Week 44 El Bosque

We heard about the big fire and prison break in Honduras this week.  Although we are concerned we don't sense any threat to Chase.  He is about 20 Miles from where the fire was and his President asked him to be cautious until things settle down by being in by 8pm each night.  He doesn't seem concerned.

Querido Familia,
Well seems like you found out about the big news about the prison and
the people that escaped. To be honest I have no clue how close the
prison is to our area, but the Comayguela mission is really close to
my area, which is where the prison was. Lots of people died and lots
of rumors about how the fire started. No one knows how it happened but
it affected Honduras quite a bit. We have to be in the house at 8 pm
for now until President Hernandez says otherwise. Everything is fine
though we are being careful. Well I am sad that I missed Navy´s
birthday again and hope it was a good one. Well thats crazy that
stefany is graduating and going to college now. Also good job for
contacting houses and inviting people to the open house. Whenever we
contact there is always rejection but there is always one person who
opens up and wants to learn more. Also what are they going to do about
the temple open house?? I would love to go to that when I come home.
Also talk to a couple of nieghbors about the gospel. How is your one
nieghbor who had the death in the family. How are they doing? Also
sounds like Dad is traveling a ton and is exhausted. Makes me feel bad
but I am know why he does it. Shows his love and dedication.

Well this week we tried to work really hard everyday but my companion
is sick with what I had when I came to the area. We havent left the
house for two days and I am really bored hahah. But he needs to get
better because we have the marriage and the baptism this week. Andres
Sanchez is going to be baptized if everything goes well this week. He
just needs to stop smoking for this week. Thats all that is left!! We
are preparing the papers for the marriage and the stuff for the
baptism. We are trying to find more investigators this week and we
found a family that we could baptize but we are trying to find them
all together so we can teach them all together. But the husband works
everday and only Sundays he rests. So we are going to try and work
that out. Ummm but I hope my companion feels better this week and we
can go and try and find new investigators. But nothing else new for
this week and i hope you all have an awesome week. Love you all a ton.
Also for the package Beef Jerky, photos, and Ensigns in english. Also
I am sending a package of the tape recorder and my sun glasses. So
look for that please. thanks for everything though.

Week 43 El Bosque

Another week down.  I am trying to get caught up after being gone for a week.  We had a good trip to Utah to visit some very dear friends.  We haven't played in the snow for some time and the company was great. I wish we had more time to do things like that.  We can see that Chase continues to work hard and continues to have success and disappointment but he pushed through.

Hey Family,
I am glad to hear everything went well with your trip. Also dad got to enjoy some fun with old high school buddies. I love talking to my high school friends and talking about things we did back then. Fun time lol. Also I am jealous about the snowmobile riding and the Razor thing too. Hey tell Stefani and Aunt Heather I said hi for me please. I miss Aunt Heather lol We use to always bother each other a ton lol. Funny times. Also with the package send my spanish hymn book please. I really want to use it here. Helps out new people see the letters of the Hymn. Also I am going to try and send the tape recorder back and my Oakley glasses. I cant use sun glasses on the mission. Well sounds like dad is traveling as usual and hopefully everything is going well with his new job.  I am glad to hear Grandpa Hall is doing better and Chelsey is starting to train again haha. Also I miss guys vball, it was always a fun season to play.

Well this week was good until Saturday. We were meeting with Esteven everyday to make sure he was ready for his baptism. So we had him all set up and interviewed to be baptized. Well he was interviewed on Thursday and then we came back on Friday to make sure he was set to go, and we showed up asked how he felt and all of that. Then he just straight up told us he doesnt want to get baptized? So we started to ask why and tried to help him have the desire to be baptized and everything, but he just said I dont have the desire? AWWW. Frustrating after all of the work we went through and everything. We asked why he didnt want to get baptized and turns out that he feels obligated by everyone and just never really wanted to be baptized. Well we couldnt do anything else, so it was hard to have that baptism fall. So we continued on and tried to not be frustrated and focus more on other investigators. Sad but we cant do anything else. We also visited Andres and he is doing well. The only thing that we are trying to help him out with is his smoking problem. We are going to buy a big bag of gum for him, so everytime he is tempted to smoke he can chew on some gum. Then we have a joven named Carlos who is super cool and has the desire to be baptized, at least I think. He is really nice and loves going to church with us. He will be baptized on the 25th too. Also a woman that has a fecha for the 25th. The woman who lives in la Finca which is way up high in our area. It was the appointment we had up there but fell because she wasnt there haha. She is really nice and came to church with her son. She like it a lot. Thats the work as far as this past week. It had its bad and goods haha. As for Honduras right now its hot during the day and cool at night. It rained a lot today and I think the summer season is coming pretty quick. My clothes are doing fine and my shoes too. Well I think that is all for now haha. Thanks for the letters and your prayers. You are all awesome. Love you all a ton. Hasta la proxima semana.

Week 42 El Bosque

Interesting times.

Querido Familia,
Wow mom sounds like crazy stuff is happening to you in Arizona. I hope you are safe and sound. Please be careful and make sure everything is locked up in the house. Also the pistol! Mom haha what are you doing?! You dont know how to handle a pistol. Also cool you are guys are still staying in touch with new sorts of technology. That would be cool to do with my future wife. Also I didnt know they are remodeling the visitor center? And  I dont remember when we saw the angel moroni go up. I do want to go to the temple when I get back because I love going and learning a ton. I miss the temple a lot and i hoping the Tegus one will be done soon when I am here. For sure i want to go everyday or as much as I can.

Well this week we have been working hard and finding new investigators everyday or potential investigators at least. We have Esteven being baptized this Saturday and he is progressing really well. Then Andres we are waiting to marry them and help him quit smoking too. His fecha is the 25th of February which will be awesome for him. He is such a humble guy and really wants to change his life. Then we have two jovenes named Carlos and Jesus and they are super nice. Carlos wants to be baptized and Jesus is liking the Catholic church more but we are going to work that out with him. We will see what happens. Very exciting! Then we found a new investigator who has a fecha for the 25th. So we go to visit her and she lives way up the mountian. So we go up all the way there and she wasnt there lol. My companion was sad and tired because of the stairs and everything haha. My companion is awesome but he gets really tired somedays and complains at times but he is really good for the most part. Funny story I thought. Well the work is going well and we keep pushing forward to find more. There are lots of blessings coming!  I know it! Anyways my birthday was super fun. We went to a members house to eat and celebrate. Also baked the cake there too. I will send photos on how is turned out lol. We had tons of fun though.  Also I completed my year mark in my mission. Crazy how times flies here. Down hill from here now haha. Well thanks for everything and I love you all. Keep praying for me and my investigators. Definitely need them for sure. Thanks again.

Week 41 El Bosque

New companion and a birthday. Almost exactly one year of his mission has passed now. The days are long but the months are fast! We are proud of his choices.

Dear Family,
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE LETTERS. I love all of you guys so much.
Also I cant believe that I have one year in the mission!!! Doesnt feel
like one year but it has been a good year. Well I am glad that you
were able to talk to Coach Anderson and tell him I said hi. Also tell
him I miss doing suicides. Well I am glad that Josey enjoys Vball and
likes the postition of Labero. There is a lot of responisibility in
this position.Tell her she needs to be a good defensive captain on the
team. Also love the fact that you guys are still doing family
scripture study and staying in touch even though we are really busy at
times.
Well I did receive a new companion and I am training again. So I am
hoping it will go better this change with my new companion. His name
is Elder Castro and has so a lot of animo to teach and preach the
people. He is from Guatemala. He is really prepared to teach and
preach. Make me feel bad because I wasnt to ready at first lol.
Anyways we are working it out and working hard. We found some new
investigators to teach that seem positive and we found a family!!
Their names are Elio and Estela. They are really humble and dont have
much. Elio just lost his job because he was threatened for his taxi.
He drives a taxi. It was sad to hear that he los this job like that
and it was a wonderful opportunity to share the gospel and how we can
be blessed from it. Its hard because this happened to them and we cant
really do much for them. We can only help spiritualy and emotionaly
and sometimes I want to help them with what I have. Well Esteven has
his baptism on the 11th of Feb. and Andres has his baptism for the
25th of Feb. Esteven is progressing well and likes what we teach and
knows its true. Then Andres has a smoking problem so we taught him the
word of wisdom and showed him that this commandment helps us in our
lives. He understood and has a desire to change his life around. He
said he has been smoking since he was 14 years old. Crazy!! The only
bummer with him is he needs to go to church more and show more members
to support him. It was a good week and I have a feeling its going to
be a really good change. Also the package came today and I love
everything in it. Some members actually invited us to come eat at
their house for my Birthday tomorrow and we will make a cake also!!!
It should be fun! Well thank you so much for all that you do and I
cant believe I have 20 years and I am just getting older and older.
Well I love all of you guys so much and hope you all have a fantastic
week.

Week 40 El Bosque

Time is moving fast for him and he has had a lot to think about with a lot of change at home and in his mission. What is most gratifying is his attitude about the work and his willingness to face it with a positive attitude.

Hey Family,
Well the days here are going by really fast for me and we have changes
this week. Also I love my grandparents so much haha. Grandpa Reid sent
me an email in spanish and I was happy to talk to him in spanish and
talk about the mission. Also Kyle and Emily taking vacations already?'
They are to young to be taking vacations! Also I figured Navy was
going to be just like her mother. I did predict that one for sure or
all of at least. Well I would love to see another baby come by the
time I come home :) Come on Emily! the more the merrier right?'
hahahaha. Well Chelsey you just need to break out a little more. Just
branch out to people and make tons of friends. I kind of just talked
with everyone and got along with everyone. I never really had problems
with anyone. Also sad that the Lewis´s moved and thats kind of bummer
for Gus but at least they are in Arizona still. Umm the move to WA who
knows I am out of the house but it would be nice to have the whole
family there when I come home in Arizona. But if not its okay no
worries. Also I forgot the Laytons were going to move in the
neighborhood haha. Crazy Layton family. We have had some funny trips
with them though.

Well as for the work I love my area but at times its hard. We can talk
to people but when we put a cita with them they fall and no one is
there or they are "busy" haha. Other than that the investigators that
we have are progressing well and love to hear from us. We had a young
man come to church and his name is Esteven and he is progressing well.
He has a fecha for the 11 of Febrero. Then Andres has a fecha for the
25 de Febrero. He loves the teaching that we have for him and we still
need to marry them and baptize him. I think that Andres is smoking
though so we need to talk about that pretty soon with him. So he can
stop smoking and I am positive that he will change his ways. He didnt
come to church though because the whole family was  going to go but
they arrive where a little bus takes members to church left and they
tried to take a taxi but it was to much money. We felt bad because we
left for church with Esteven and her grandmother to go to church. So I
felt bad because we werent there when that happened but we are not
going to let it happen again. ummm we are still trying to find new
investigators still its a little hard but we will who we find this
week. Also cambios come this week and my companion leaves. He doesnt
want to leave but he will be an awesome missionary. He has been doing
well and helps me out a lot in the mission. Well I am glad you still
have family scripture study and I miss that even though every morning
that we woke up I didnt listen that well lol. I am repenting for not
listening haha. Now I crave reading everyday and i can feel the
difference in the day. Because I can feel the spirit all the time.
Well nothing else to report just the package hasnt come quite yet but
I am still looking for it for sure. Well thanks for everything and i
hope everything goes well with you all this week. Talk to you all
later!! Love you all.

Week 39 El Bosque

It sounds like things are getting back into the groove for Chase. Back to work and making contacts with a very young but willing companion. unfortunately this is a short temporary mission for his companion so he will have a new one soon. Lots of training for him.

Dear Family,
I cant believe that all of my friends are growing up so fast. Also good job for Chelsey!! Wooohoo! haha I guess it does sound like me. Oh well she is following in the steps of Emily and I with our relationships. Who would have known. Well sounds like the ward is going to be different when I come back, but that happens you know. Then sounds like the boat trip was fun and all the girls were just wimpy! Good job parents for showing up the youth. I miss that a lot haha. But I will have another chance for sure.

Well this week was very rewarding for us because we had a family come to church and that was really awesome. The family name is Sanchez. The wife is a member but the husband is not a member. He liked church a ton and we have a FHE with them tonight which is should be pretty good. Then as investigators that are progressing we only have them. We have some more people but they are not as progressive. If they dont come to church then we cant doing anything with them. Oh yeah the guys name is Andres. Also we have a fecha with a joven named Steven. He is 12 years old and seems positive we are going to try and baptize him on 11th of February . But those are the ones we have right now. But we are still finding people to teach and work with members. My companion is awesome and loves to be here. But its sad that he is leaving. But what can you do you know. I will receive a new missionary in two weeks so we will see what happens. But thats all for now and talk to you guys later! Love you all.

Week 38 El Bosque

A lot of change for Chase again with a new companion who is very young but it looks like a good change for him.

Dear Family,
Well I am absolutely shocked for Landon! I am glad that he is moving forward. I am glad he found someone that makes him happy all the time. I hate Pink Eye but thats what happens sometimes lol. I feel bad for kyle though. I remember my companion in the MTC caught pink eye haha. That was hard and rough. Well mom you seem to be always cleaning the house and it makes  me laugh all the time. I never liked to do it but you taught me how to be clean especially in the mission. There are missionaries that are just filthy and dont take care of anything. I hate dirty stuff now. Also the Breinholt cabin trip was always fun to do. Makes me laugh all the time and when we did those massage trains. We did a bunch of stuff on the that trip that made me laugh. Good memories with Jeff, Cody, Gus, Steven, and Josh. Awwww good times! We definitely had a blast! Umm Josh I have not heard from at all. Also school starts again. Crazy!

Well last week Elder Mancia left on Thursday and I received a mini missionary and his name is Elder Enmorado. Mini Missionary is a young man that is called for a certain amount of days for example my companion is only with me for 20 days. He is not set apart but he is like a missionary. He is from a ward in the last zone I was in. I know his dad because he is part of the stake presidency in that zone. He is really cool and animated to work. He is young but sends in his papers pretty soon for his real mission. Well after Mancia left we started to work in the area and found some new investigators. We taught three ladies who have families. Their names are Jisela, Vilma, and Denia. Jisela and Vilma have kids but they dont have husbands. And Denia has a husband who we didnt meet but he is the son of a member. They seem positive and we will see if they will progress. Not much but we are trying for sure. The ward here is really strong and wants to help us a ton. They dont a church yet because its being remodeled. Its a pretty big church and it should be done in february. The ward wants to have a open house for the new church and hopefully we willl have tons of investigators and member come to church. Well the area here is cool but its all uphill in our area and its cold haha. I like my new area though because its different and its an area you dont see everyday. Well I cant think of anything else to say but I am positive this week will be a lot better and I hope we can find more people to talk to. Also thanks for the package and you are all awesome. Love you all so much! Well take care this week and be safe. Les quiero mucho.

Week 37 El Bosque

More details on his new area.
Hey Fam,
Well this past week was a little rough. My companion decided to stay in the mission and so I was kind of ready for him to go home but then he said he wants to stay. So what happened was that Tuesday was a good day with contacting meeting new members and trying to find people in el Bosque. It was kind of hard because the people forget about the things of God in this time of the year, but that wasnt the only problem. We worked all day tuesday and Wednesday also. Then Thursday was District meeting and after that my companion had a headache and slept for the rest of the day. I told him to take a pill but he didnt want to because he says it will not work. So I left him for that. Then the next friday it was the same thing again and he is worried about having a headache and his health. I  was thinking maybe it is a bad headache, but what bothers me is he can go to members houses to visit but not walk around and talk to people. Anyways I was trying to be patient and understand but he started to just say he doesnt believe he can stay in the mission and go forward if he keeps having a headache. I wanted him to take a pill but he doesnt want to at all! So I was frustrated and bored for being in the house all day. So I think if he is just going to be like this and not actually try and work then its better to go to the house. I know it sounds hard on him but I just talked to President and he is going home this week for sure. As for the area we didnt do much except go out a couple days. I know this email is short but I need to get back to my area and yeah. I will write a long email on Monday to you all . Sorry but I just dont have much time right now. I love you all very much. thanks for everything. Also for my package I would like mint cookies, letters from you all, big bag of mixed chocolate candy bars, suckers, skittles, pictures, sweater if you want, and anything else you think I need haha. Also yeah I know I have been spending a bit to much money because my companion hasnt had that much money and I have been helping him. So yeah sorry I dont like using my account.
